College fees are reviewed annually and for the academic year 2013/14 are set at £8850. Charlton House School: £6795
Sibling discounts are available and relate directly to the number of children attending either Charlton House or St Mary's College. A second child will automatically receive a 10% discount, a third 15%. The schools are happy to negotiate a discount for additional children. Please note that discounts do not apply to Nursery places or where a child currently holds a Nursery Grant.
The schools also recognise former students and offer a 10% reduction on fees for their first child.
Parents should be aware that Bursaries and Scholarships are also available. The former relate to social and economic factors and are means tested, while the latter are awarded for particular talents that the child has.
Parents will need to make an application to the schools for Bursaries and or Scholarships using the main yellow application forms. These are issued to all prospective candidates and on request.
Scholarships are available in the senior dept. for Maths, Sport, Music, English and Drama. Students achieving the highest grades through the schools Entrance examinations in January will be awarded an Academic Scholarship.
The size of these awards ranges from £400 - £1500 although the schools reserve the right to vary these depending on the quality of the submission and performance of the student.
Bursaries are a 'means tested' award and are given to support families and students that make application on the grounds of restricted income. The process still requires that students sit an entrance examination and parents will need to produce evidence to support this application. An interview with the Head teacher / Finance Officer will finalise the level of award that can be made. They are reviewed annually for any changes in circumstance. On occasions these may be single one off payments. Parents may also make application to Foundations outside of the College for support. A list of these can be provided on request.
The schools are a registered charity and actively support the applications of families irrespective of income. There are limited amounts of money to support both of the above so early applications are recommended.
