Music

At Charlton House we enjoy making, listening to and appreciating music.

Music is taught throughout the school as an integral part of the curriculum. Lessons give the pupils the opportunity to experiment with vocal and instrumental sounds, and to develop an awareness of the vast scope of the subject.

Children in years 4-6 may join the choir which performs in concerts and services throughout the year and is involved in theatrical productions with a strong musical framework. These events give the children the opportunity to perform in front of their peers and parents, and further their knowledge of music in practice. We also support local charities by singing carols for the public.

Students are taken to concerts outside school both locally and in London when the opportunity arises. Pupils are also encouraged to take up instrumental lessons (brass, piano, woodwind, violin, guitar) and participate in musical concerts organised by the College Music Department.
