At Charlton we believe in developing the whole child so there are many opportunities for children to learn new skills and have fun outside of lessons.
Both boys and girls can join our very successful football teams. Qualified coaches run lunch-time gym clubs and swimming clubs. Many of our children compete in Southampton City cross country competitions.
At various times during the year there is an in-house chess competition, a craft club, and a speech competition. Some of our children join with the College students in Warhammer Club.
For one week at the end of Key Stage 2, our year six children embark on an outward bound course in the Brecon Beacons. During the week they experience rock climbing, abseiling, pot-holing and mountaineering.
Work in class is enhanced by visits to places like: Stonehenge, the Tower of London, the Mary Rose, Milestones Museum, Fishbourne Roman Palace, country parks, farms and the aquarium, to name but a few.
Throughout the year we raise money for outside charities, some nominated by parents and others, including: Blue Peter Appeals, Red Nose Day, the shoe box Christmas appeal, the NSPCC, Barnardo and Mission Together.
