“All together now, say cheese!”

Gathering the whole school community together for a single picture presents a real challenge. Our friends at ‘Yellow’ photography are very well versed in the logistics of such an event and given the fantatstic behaviour and co-operation of the College and Charlton students it all ran very smoothly. Thank-you to Fr Michael for capturing the sequence of events.

Sailing 2012

sailing day one (10)

This years Sailing Course started on Monday with a few ‘old’ faces from previous years and a healthy new contingent from Year 7. Dr Kowaleskwi also joins the group this year to try his hand at a new activity and add a competitive edge that should help raise the enthusisam and motivation of the group. The rain held off for this first session and a good breeze blew, managing to fill their sails. They all demonstrated great promise, with only one or two managing to take the plunge while tacking!

Art Trip to Roche Court 2012

ireland and school 073
The Art GCSE group spent a day at the new Art Centre, Roche Court. It represents the Estates of Barbara Hepworth, Kenneth Armitage and Ian Stephenson and shows 20th and 21st Century sculptures in the spectacular Wiltshire countryside. There are works on exhibition from 1950 to the present day including sculptures by Antony Gormley, Richard Long, Anthony Caro and Barry Flanagan.
In the morning the students were given a guided tour of the sculpture park and took part in various drawing exercises. At times the rain poured down but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the inspired Art students. The afternoon was spent inside the warm Art studio producing work from Anthony Caro’s Relief sculptures.
