College Sports Day on Monday 25th June was once more held at the City Athletics Ground. The weather presented ideal conditions for students and staff competing in this years track events. Thank-you to Mr Cheeseman for organising the afternoon, he continues to broaden the field events, allowing students to experience and compete in Discus, Javelin, Shot, Long Jump. A full report on the winners of the events will be published at the end of term. I would like to add a final thank-you to staff and especially Mr Falvey who so kindly allowed the students such a long ‘head start’ in the final relay event.

College Prom 2012

Prom 6 SH

The School Prom has become an important part of school life and is seen by many as an act of ‘moving on’. It is for this reason that parents swelled  the ranks of spectators on Tuesday night outside Chilworth Manor Hotel. The arrival of students on Motorbikes, Classic cars and  Grand Tourers created the start to a wonderful evening. The year 11 have made a great impression on the College and ended their time with us in style. My thanks go to  Mrs Gallagher  and Mrs Long for their work in decorating the venue. To Mr Heron  for the wonderful photographs you see here. Finally a big thank-you to all  the parents, teachers and friends who supported the students throughout their time at the College.

Wintershall 2012

Wintershall (2)

Never was the expression ’sunshine and showers’ better experienced than at the ‘Life of Christ’ presented at Wintershall (Guildford). Year 6 and Year 7 braved all that, and also the mud, to follow Jesus for six enthralling hours. The cast braved everything-as these pictures show; and our students entered into the story whenever invited. At the breaking of bread Matthew (Year 7) showed his Joe Hart’s skills in diving for a piece while Charlton settled down to a more sedate picnic.

City Champions!

IMG_3492

The Southampton Schools Athletic Championships were held on the 21st June 2012 with representation from schools across Southampton. Once more the College has gained significant recognition because of the outstanding performances from its students. It is outstanding that we have 7 City Champions in a broad range of field and track events given the size of our community. Well done to all of them.

Pictured above:

Year 7: Orla McGinnis (Discus)
Year 8: John Ingram (100m), Dan Wallis (200m), Dylan Kirkwood (800m), Will Hughes (Discus)
Year 10: Isaac Cullinane (Shot Put), Sam Douglas (3000m)
