Last Wednesday 28th St Mary’s College hosted the second league race in the Southampton Schools Cross Country competition, with over 150 competitors.  The temperature for the race was more suitable for cricket than cross country, and claimed a few casualties.  This was in stark contrast to the previous year which produced torrential rain, and not so many photos – Father Michael took them from the Whitehouse!  St Mary’s as always produced some great performances, in particular, Alex Ruggles and Rosie Lynch who came 2nd; Dylan and Sam Kirkwood who finished 3rd; and James Doherty, James New, Stephen Whorwood and Dan Wallis who finished 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th respectively in their races.  Thank you to both staff and students who helped marshal. No Limits: Self Esteem and Anti-bullying workshops

Yr 8 No Limits (4)

St. Mary’s College is very lucky to have a team of youth workers from No Limits come into school to run a series of three workshops for Years 7 – 10.

The workshops focus on raising the students self esteem, developing positive relationships within the year group and enabling the students to stand up against low level bulling.  The activities our students are participating in range from affirmations written in full size drawing of themselves to assertiveness role play.

Judging by the photos of yesterdays workshop all our students seem to be enjoying themselves completely!

College Open Evening 2011

Open Eve (7)

A big thank-you to all the staff and students at the College who made the Open Evening on Monday such a success. The energy and enthusiasm of the students especially, is a real measure of the quality of the College community. The comments from visitors were very positive and many stayed beyond the formal presentation to enjoy the broad variety of activities on display around the site.  A special thank-you to our Chair of Trustees, Brother Francis OBE, for greeting our visitors and demonstrating the continued commitment of the Brothers to this community. May I also extend my thanks to members of the Parents Association for providing and serving the refreshments.
