This year the Brothers Of Christian Instruction remember the 150th Anniversary of the death of Jean De La Mennais, the ‘Founder’ of the order. The thanks-giving mass celebrated in the College Chapel was led by Fr Michael, with the College muscians and Brother James providing some inspirational Music. Form 8A provided excellent readings and drama to support the service.
Please find attached a copy of the Whole school examination timetable for the period Monday 29th Nov – Fri Dec 3rd. Some students will be already undertaking assessments for their Language orals. Please note the three ‘blocks’ per day correspond with Periods 1-3, Periods 4-5 and Periods 6-8 from top to bottom.
Congratulations to all our students who entered the Vocation Expo Competition and a big well done to Ruri Clark, Mark Soloman and Ed Bailey for their winning entries. A special thank-you to Mrs Thom for organising and encouraging the students to take part.
Attached is the web address for the Vocations Expo 2010 competition page. It contains the names of the winning students and a presentation of the short listed poster. The poster was designed to show the Religious life of a Christian that the students know.
First prize – Ruri Clark
Third prize – Mark Solomn and Ed Bailey
Shortlisted – James Briggs, George Murphy and Ben Davis
Congratulations to all the College students that received Bronze, Silver and Gold Certification in this years World Wide Language Olympics. Many more received certificates recognising their achievements in this annual event. Special recognition must go to Christopher McGill for his Gold Award, placing him in the top 1% of the 80,000 students that entered across the globe! Thank-you to Mrs Adam for organising the College entry and instilling such enthusiasm amongst the students.
Perhaps it is the lack of confectionary and cakes in the Dining Hall that caused the success of the Year 11 Cake Sale on Friday. The large numbers of homemade cake and buns swelled my office at the start of the morning and made it look like a bakery! The morning break and lunchtime sales exceeded all expectation and by the end of the day all but a few crumbs remained. The monies raised will add to the growing ‘pot’ of funds for the Year 11 Prom in July 2011. Thank-you to parents that helped bake the cakes and the students for their obvious enthusiasm to sell, sell, sell! I would end on a precautionary note however, do not try more than one slice of Jack Mantle and David Roberts’ ’Chocolate and Marshmallow’ cake!
