College Founders Day Mass

JL Mass (5)

This year the Brothers Of Christian Instruction  remember the 150th Anniversary of the death of Jean De La Mennais, the ‘Founder’ of the order. The thanks-giving mass celebrated in the College Chapel was led by Fr Michael, with the College muscians and Brother James providing some inspirational Music. Form 8A provided excellent readings and drama to support the service.

Congratulations to all the College students that received Bronze, Silver and Gold Certification in this years World Wide Language Olympics. Many more received certificates recognising their achievements in this annual event. Special recognition must go to Christopher McGill for his Gold Award, placing him in the top 1% of the 80,000 students that entered across the globe!  Thank-you to Mrs Adam for organising the College entry and instilling such enthusiasm amongst the students.

College Cake Sale

IMG_3509

Perhaps it is the lack of confectionary and cakes in the Dining Hall that caused the success of the Year 11 Cake Sale on Friday. The large numbers of homemade cake and buns swelled my office at the start of the morning and made it look like a bakery! The morning break and lunchtime sales exceeded all expectation and by the end of the day all but a few crumbs remained. The monies raised will add to the growing ‘pot’ of funds for the Year 11 Prom in July 2011. Thank-you to parents that helped bake the cakes and the students for their obvious enthusiasm to sell, sell, sell! I would end on a precautionary note however, do not try more than one slice of Jack Mantle and David Roberts’  ’Chocolate and Marshmallow’ cake!
