Anti-Bullying Awareness event
The school is currently using the services of Southampton Youth Support Team ( ‘No Limits’), to raise our students awareness to the issue regarding Bullying. They have been invited to talk to students in years 7 to 10 and create a forum in which students can feel comfortable to discuss the issues around bullying at school or within the broader community. Bullying is sadly a common feature of most school or work place environments and has certainly been experienced by most of us at some times in our lives. Knowing who we can talk to in confidence, having strategies to cope and creating an environment where it is not tolerated will help those who are especially vunerable. The school operates an Anti-Bullying policy and draws on the experience of organisations like ‘No Limits’ to reinforce its message.

I think an anti-bullying campaign is a great idea but nobody seems to know exactly what is included in the policy. I think it would be a good idea if all pupils were given a copy of the policy so they know who to see if they are being bullied and how the issue will be dealt with.

The policy was discussed in detail with the school council and its key content given through assemblies with KS3 and KS4. A copy of the document is always available to parents on request.
